That’s the song I learned from dining at El Cerdo yesterday. El Cerdo is pork in Spanish and being true to their name, the restaurant serves a large variety of pork delicacies like suckling piglet, pork chop, ham, goulash and plenty more.

CJ & I visited the famous pork restaurant to fill our tummies with porkielicious food after catching Vantage Point at TGV yesterday. We arrived to a full house but we’re very fortunate because the waitress managed to find us a table at the non-smoking section of the restaurant. We’re quickly seated by the attentive waitress and I must say I’m very impressed by their service. The restaurant is decorated with quirky pig memorabilia and posters. How Cute!

While we were browsing through the menu, a loud din startled us. We turned around and saw a patron throwing plates on to the floor. Flabbergasted, I signaled a waitress over and asked her what’s going on. She then explained to me in her limited English that according to an old Spanish tradition, diners are supposed to carve up the roast piglet using a plate before breaking the used plate into a bucket ‘for luck and prosperity’. Since there’re only 2 of us, we decided to try it out the next time with a bigger group.

They have an extensive menu of French/Italian food and wine! I ordered the Grilled Pork Chop Tenderloin con Queso Cabrales (Grilled & Gratinated with Ham & Spanish Blue Cheese on Homemade Garlic Pasta) and CJ opted for the Marinated Pork Shoulder Steak (Marinated for 48 hours with the Finest Paprika, Herbs, Onions, Garlic and Mild Dijon Mustard).

My pasta was cooked to ‘el dente’ and the pork & ham were simply porkielicious. CJ kept raving about his pork steak and the potatoes. After we finished our main course, a waiter brought us two complimentary shots of EL CERDO SPECIAL 22 %( A delectable Digestive consists of `Spirit, Wine and Juices). Suffice to say that we had a very satisfying meal and we’ll definitely come back again.

Oh and about the song. A guy next to our table was celebrating his birthday. The waitresses sang him a birthday song after presenting to him a cute mini pig chocolate cake :)
