Angel

What would you do if your loved one is in distress?

Immediate reaction would be to give unconditional love and support.

Lend an ear...

Be a shoulder to cry on...

A sound mind to keep things in check.

Honestly, i'm an emotional person, hence i don't handle confrontation well enough. But when it comes to solving other people's problem, i can be very rational and analytical.

My problem is that the heart always takes over the head and many a time i've said things and done stuffs that are hurtful, which i regret very much later; but having said that, emo me can relate well to people's feeling. Be it anger, jealousy, happiness, etc. and i take much pride in that :)

I remember my friend did a personality test for me during secondary school and according to him i'm a phlegmatic sanguine... in short, a clown who wants to be a scientist, which basically sums up who i am today :p

A very dear person to me, CJ, is going through a tough time now. I hope everything will work out the best for you.

If I could be your angel
Protect you from the pain
I’ll keep you safe from danger
You’ll never hurt again (no more)
I’ll be your a.n.g.e.l
a.n.g.e.l, a.n.g.e.l
I’m gonna be your a.n.g.e.l
I’ll be your angel

Terry Foxed

The response for Terry Fox run last Sunday was overwhelming. Glad that I’d made it even though I just managed to get 5 hours worth of shut eyes prior to the run.

Completed the race in 25 minutes. It's a good sign and serves as a motivation to train for next year’s 20km :)

WTF!

WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF!!!!!!!

No grounds to act against Zakaria's family, says MB

The state government has no grounds to act against the family of the late Port Klang state assemblyman, Datuk Zakaria Mat Deros, over the building of their palatial mansion in Pandamaran without approvals from the Klang Municipal Council, of which he was a councillor.

Mentri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim told reporters this today when commenting on former mentri besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Khir Toyo’s challenge in the state assembly on Monday to the new state administration to act against the owners of the mansion.

Mohd Khir had said the previous government did not act against Zakaria on humanitarian grounds.

HUMANITARIAN GROUND?! AFTER ALL THAT SHITS HE HAD DONE!!!

Zakaria had acquired the land from the state government at below-market price.

“To start with, the former state government had already given a grant for the land on which the house stands," Abdul Khalid told reporters on the sidelines of the state assembly.

“We cannot simply act. We need to see if there is any fraud or abuse of power involved as these are grounds on which we can act. For now, we don’t have any reason (to do so).

WTF WTF WTF!!! Are they blind or what?! I thought he mentioned earlier that Zakaria had acquired the land at below-market price!

Abdul Khalid also said he did not see any breach of secrets with regards to the statement on the state budget by Seri Andalas assemblyman and state executive councillor Dr Xavier Jayakumar to a newspaper.

Information on the budget, which was distributed to the media on Friday, was embargoed for release on Monday when the state assembly convened.

“The statement was a general one stating that the budget was focused on the welfare of the rakyat. It did not delve into the details," he said.

Ya... the rakyat consists of the Deiros, saudara bau bau bacang, friends & cronies!

This is unbelievable... WTF moment of the day...

Mizuno Wave Run

The alarm rang.

What the hell... It's a freaking Sunday!

Got up reluctantly and staggered clumsily towards the alarm that’s screaming at me on the dresser. Bitch slapped the screamer and hopped back on to bed. Wriggled into my comforter and wrapped myself up like a popiah. Lying on the warm and comfy bed contently, I started contemplating whether to continue sleeping or get ready for the run.

Run... you lazy bum!

But but but... it's a Sunday!

Then why bother training!

But but...

Stop your but's or i'll kick yours!

At last, the adventurous side of me kicked the ass of my lazy side out of bed to get ready for the 10km run at Tasik Perdana.

Took a quick shower and shocked my body out its slumber.

Dropped by McD for a quick breakfast.

Love the buns!

Reached Padang Merbok around 645am and saw many people running around to warm up.

Shit… the last time I ran 10km was back in Secondary school.

Panicked for a second in the car.“Well what the heck, since I’m already here” I told myself

Did some stretching and a shot run before convening with other runners at the starting line. Glad to see a few familiar faces (Ange, SoHe, Nic, Henry) at the race.

Started off slow and picked up my pace after the 5km drink station. A lot runner continued the race walking after the station. Seized the opportunity to catch up on loss time while my faithful MP3 player kept me pumping with upbeat music.

Sprint all the way to the finish line during the last km. Checked my timer, 52m 43s.

I smiled.

That’s not too bad

Mourn for Humanity

On the news today:

Victims of hate

By Teoh El Sen and Aizat Sharif September 23, 2008 Malay Mail

African undergraduate Abdel Aziz Hassan Abdraman, 22, will never again see his eight-month-old daughter and 19-year-old wife because he was the “victim of a hate crime” that claimed his life.

Abdel Aziz had planned to return home to Chad for Aidilfitri this week and his friends said he was overjoyed at going back to be with his family.

Sunday’s mob attack on 10 African undergraduates in Wangsa Maju caused his death and injured the rest, the victims claimed yesterday.

They said they had been harassed and mocked by the same youths for four consecutive days before the attack.

They further claimed that some youths had even gone up to their Tar Villa apartment and demanded money and cigarettes.

Police confirmed that the victims had been regularly ridiculed by the youths who expressed their displeasure at the increasing presence of Africans in the neighbourhood.

In one incident, a student was also kicked at an Internet café.

Residents and traders have claimed that the number of Africans and other foreigners, mainly students from institutions of higher learning, was growing steadily and that their large number was intimidating.

In Sunday’s incident, HELP University College business studies undergraduate Abdel Aziz was murdered. He sustained stab wounds to the right abdomen and died in the ambulance on the way to Kuala Lumpur Hospital.

Several other students, also from Chad, were injured when they were attacked by some 20 youths wielding metal rods, sticks and knives near the Wangsa Maju LRT station.

Sentul district police chief Assistant Commissioner Zakaria Pagan told Malay Mail that initial investigations revealed that the attack stemmed from the uneasiness of the residents over the behaviour of the Africans.

“We believe the youths who attacked the Africans wanted to teach them a lesson to behave themselves in public.”

Police have detained three men, in their 20s, from Wangsa Maju to assist in investigations. They will be under remand until Saturday.

Police are also examining closed-circuit television camera (CCTV) images near the LRT station to ascertain the events leading to the attack.

Malay Mail learnt the drama unfolded when three undergraduates were on the way to board the LRT to perform terawih prayers at a nearby mosque at 8.30pm.

They were confronted by some 20 youths who were believed to have hurled abuse at them and demanded money.

When the trio ignored them and walked away, the youths, carrying switch blades, pursued them and struck one of them on the head.

The students took refuge at the LRT station and sought assistance from their African friends living nearby.

Seven of their friends, including Abdel Aziz, went to their aid and together they went back to where the trio was attacked.

Abdel Aziz’s cousin, Abdraman Moussa Mohamat, 23, said: “We asked the youths who were seated at the stalls why they had attacked our friends but they came for us suddenly without saying a word.

“We ran for our lives when they began swinging metal rods, sticks and knives at us. In the fracas, Abdel Aziz was stabbed from the back.”

The mob fled after Abdel Aziz collapsed by the roadside some 15 metres from the stalls.

Lamine Moustapha Ahmat, 22, a Rima College student, said he carried the victim while his friends tried in vain to stop a taxi. Many taxis waiting to pick up LRT commuters refused to budge. A passerby then called for an ambulance.

Note: Abdel Aziz first enrolled with the International Islamic University of Malaysia before switching to HELP University College.

His father, who runs a palm oil import-export business, was informed about the tragedy on Sunday night and his brother will arrive today to claim the remains

This is just too sad.
The failure of our education system to raise young Malaysians who are color blind, understanding, & critical in thinking.
The failure of parents to guide their children to be kind, understanding & peace loving.
I hope the people who are responsible will be punished severely.

Gunman kills 10 in Finnish school shooting

By Attila Cser

KAUHAJOKI, Finland (Reuters) - A student shot dead 10 people at a vocational school on Tuesday, Finland's second such attack in less than a year and just one day after the gunman was interviewed by police over Internet postings.

The killer, 22-year-old Matti Saari, started a fire in the school and then shot himself in the head. He died later in Tampere University Hospital.

"A cold-blooded shooter entered the building with an automatic pistol and started cutting down students," said Jukka Forsberg, a maintenance man at the post-secondary school in the town of Kauhajoki where the shooting occurred.

"He also shot towards me, did not say anything and once the bullets started to whizz by I started running for my life."

Police said identification of the bodies was slow because of blaze started by the gunman.

"The site has suffered from fires and the victims have been partially burnt," said police Chief Superintendent Urpo Lintala.

In an echo of last year's deadly rampage at Finland's Jokela high school, Saari posted menacing comments and videos of himself wielding a gun on the Internet in the run-up the massacre, prompting police to question him on Monday.

Officers did not confiscate the gun, Interior Minister Anne Holmlund told a news conference. She gave no details of the interview, but said police did not ask him to surrender the gun because they decided he had made no specific threats.

"Police action will be examined in more detail later. The gunman had a temporary permit for a .22 calibre pistol, and he had received it in August 2008. It was his first gun," she said.

Gun ownership in Finland is among the highest in the world, but crime rates in general are low.

Up until last year's shooting, Finnish authorities had resisted tighter European Union restrictions on guns.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen said Finland should consider banning private handguns altogether, saying a new stricter European-wide gun law was not enough.

"It is not enough to talk about age limits or interviews ... after two such tragic incidents, we have to discuss whether private people can be allowed to have handguns," Vanhanen told Finnish broadcaster MTV3.

I totally disagree with firearm ownership, even though it's for self defense. It's just too dangerous. Haven't we learnt anything from all these public shooting tragedies?

China Says Complaints About Milk Began in 2007

Published: September 23, 2008

SHANGHAI — One of China’s biggest dairy producers received consumer complaints about its baby milk formula as early as December 2007 — much earlier than previously thought and 10 months before the producer ordered a nationwide recall because of concerns that the formula had been adulterated with a toxic industrial chemical, state media said Tuesday.

The disclosure, in a government report publicized by the official Xinhua News Agency, is the latest indication that the producer, Sanlu Group, had repeatedly tried to hide information about its contaminated dairy supplies from the public.

Powdered milk formula in China tainted by melamine, a chemical compound, has already sickened more than 53,000 infants and killed three children nationwide, according to the Health Ministry, leading to recalls of Chinese-made dairy products in China and other parts of Asia, devastating this nation’s huge dairy industry and casting a renewed pall over the quality of Chinese food production. Officials at the Sanlu Group, which is based in northern China’s Hebei Province, could not be reached for comment on Tuesday.

The government report did not include details about the nature or number of consumer complaints but put the timing of when they began at least six months earlier than first reported.

Earlier this month, government investigators said that Sanlu officials had delayed acting on consumer complaints and warnings in June, and that local government officials in Hebei knew of the problems in early August, just before the Olympic Games opened in Beijing.

Sanlu announced a nationwide recall in early September.

The Fonterra Group of New Zealand, which is one of the world’s biggest dairy exporters and has a 43 percent stake in Sanlu, says it pressed its Chinese partner to announce a recall in August, but company and local government officials refused.

Food safety experts say the delays may have allowed the tainted powdered milk supplies to spread more widely, making tens of thousands of children ill.

The delays have led to widespread speculation in China that Sanlu and some government officials were trying to cover up the problem during the Olympics because Beijing had pressed Chinese journalists and companies not to release negative news.

In the two weeks since reports spread about the contamination and sickness, though, the milk recall has mushroomed, with worried parents rushing to hospitals, supermarket chains pulling dairy products off shelves and dairy farmers dumping milk because no one is willing to drink it.

China’s dairy industry has been booming for more than a decade, with the aid of a government initiative to get Chinese to drink more milk.

But worries about baby formula tainted with melamine, which is used to produce plastics and fertilizer, led to government checks that uncovered evidence that products made by 21 other dairy producers, including some of China’s best known dairy brands, have also been tainted by melamine.

On Monday, the government announced that the head of the nation’s quality watchdog had been forced to resign for failing to properly supervise the dairy market. Several government officials from Hebei Province have also been forced to step down, along with the chairwoman of the Sanlu Group.

The government announced Tuesday that more than 7,000 tons of dairy products had been removed from store shelves. Also on Tuesday, the Ministry of Agriculture said the nation’s dairy collection system was “out of control,” The Associated Press reported, making it possible for unscrupulous businesses to intentionally spike dairy supplies with melamine, which can be used to illegally and artificially inflate the protein count in milk and other foods.

Avril Lavigne concert cancelled
By LOH FOON FONG

KUALA LUMPUR: The Avril Lavigne concert in Shah Alam on Aug 29 has been cancelled.

Unity, Culture, Arts and Heritage Minister Shafie Apdal said that the concert falls during the nation's independence period and was not a suitable time to hold such a concert.

There are a lot of events on Aug 29 and the Ministry does not want the independence and the near Ramadan month to be filled with such pop and rock culture, he said.

"As the Minister of Unity, Culture, Arts and Heritage, we should be instilling good culture in the young but here we are allowing other parties to organise things," he said Wednesday after launching the IDeAS for enhancing Integrity book.

Moreover, the organisers were promoting the event even before they got approval from the relevant agencies, he said.

"All organisers, local and foreign, should adhere to the rules and regulations before promoting the concert and selling tickets to the public," he said, adding that Lavigne's organisers should have sought advice from the Kuala Lumpur City Council or the Ministry.

Asked if he knew why they had promoted the concert before it was approved, he said he did not know.

Asked if the Ministry's decision was in response to PAS Youth's call for cancellation, he said "no."

Cranky No More

All these negativity are making me cranky.

Me no likey cranky.

Let’s talk something else…

Avril Lavigne

*from wikipedia

Girls want to be like her and boys want to date her.

I dig this chick.

Avril took the world by storm when she released her debut album ‘Let go’ back in 2002, 16 million copies sold worldwide. She has filled a void left by Alanis, the ex-Goddess of Angst, and soon enough little miss petite has everybody singing to her infectious ‘Complicated’ and ‘Skat8er Boi’. Can’t help but hum along to her songs whenever I hear them on the radio.

She is going to perform on our shore this coming 29th August. Better get your tickets before they sold out… See you at the concert!

Most probably the worst movie of the year! It’s a ‘hate it or love it affair’. Nothing in between.

As for me, i hate it. I’m so disappointed that I really wanted to ask for a refund after the movie.

I think he is brilliant in waterboy, wedding singer, little nicky, anger management and 50 first dates, but his latest movie is utter crap. It’s so bad that I feel like walking out after the first 10 minutes. It’s unfunny, tasteless humor, racist, and all sort of bad remarks you can think of for a comedy.

Please don’t watch the movie! Not even if it’s free! I’m sure you can do something more worthwhile than being abused visually, audibly and intellectually for 2 hours.

Adam, for the love of mankind, please stop making stupid movie!

The Last Straw

PM has just asked us to shut up.

'Avoid open discussions'

He wants us to be like him,

a coward, to always keep silent & not taking any substantial action, and

an ignorant fool, to not care about what's going on & be blasé about everything.

The special rights itself is causing racial tension not the discussions about it. There won't be any issues if it doesn't exist.

I've completely lost faith in our leader and country. Given the opportunity, i would gladly leave and start a new life somewhere else.

PAS Youth slammed for calling for ban on show
By JO TEH

PETALING JAYA: Federal Territory PAS Youth has been slammed for calling for a ban on the upcoming concert by popular Canadian rocker Avril Lavigne, with Malaysian Artistes’ Association (Karyawan) describing the move as “ridiculous”.

Its president Freddie Fernandez criticised the move, saying: “This is the most ridiculous thing to do – to ask for a cancellation of such a decent performer like Avril Lavigne. “Avril's music is very popular here. PAS Youth should never deprive Malaysians of the chance to watch the concert.” The concert has been set for Aug 29 at Stadium Merdeka. World Tour: Avril will be performing at Stadium Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur on Aug 29. — AP Fernandez said PAS Youth was trying to impose their narrow values on the country, forgetting that Malaysia is a multicultural nation.

“PAS Youth should really take a good look at themselves and examine whether what they are doing is correct,” he said. “Their narrow-mindedness will definitely not get the support of the rakyat. They are always looking at the world through blinkers. They cannot see any other point of view except theirs.” He said Karyawan would be calling for a meeting with all concert promoters to have a stand once and for all to ask for the Government not to entertain ridiculous requests and demands of such unreasonable people.

On Saturday, Federal Territory PAS Youth chief Kamaruzaman Mohamed handed over a memorandum to Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Hakim Borhan and the Unity, Culture, Arts and Heritage Ministry calling for a ban on the concert. The PAS wing is asking the authorities to ban the show because “rock and punk is not suitable for the young generation and especially so during Merdeka month.”

Galaxy Group spokesman said the rocker would comply with regulations here during her concert. “There is absolutely no problem with her image, costumes and showmanship,” he added. “Avril’s management is aware of this and they have told us to handle the issue properly,” he said.

I won's say much but just

EAT SHIT AND DIE, YOU RELIGIOUS BIGOT!

You should ban altogether One Buck Shot, Meet Uncle Hussein, Spider, Estranged…

Why stop at Punk Rock? How about TV shows? Your should ban Gang Starz, Concert Jom Heboh, Anugerah Bintang Harian, One in Million, Akademi Fantasia (oh they have Akademi Nasyid as well… definitely want to ban that because it menerapkan unsur-unsur Barat yang tidak sesuai dengan budaya Malaysia). By the way, in case you’re too busy churning out bullshits to observe, most of the punk rocker wannabes are your own people.

MRR2 is falling down
Falling down
Falling down
MRR2 is falling down
Screw you, Sammy!

It’s back to MRR2 again. Surely the garblement is already churning out another scandal to divert the rakyat’s attention. Can’t help but having this mental image of a Malaysian goldfish; we eat whatever the garblement feeds us even though it’s an utter piece of crap.

Bakun, MMSC, Proton, MRR2, Klang free trade zone, MATRADE, Space (pui pui pui) program (my ASS); one accolame after another and Malaysia, with its thickest face ever, has the audacity to claim its bolehness to the world.

No action taken against ministers who blatantly rob Malaysians off our hard earned money.
No action taken against ministers who made racist remarks.
No action taken against ministers who had committed crimes.

These people have forgotten why they are elected as minister.
These people have neglected the rakyat.
These people have to be reminded that their power comes from us…

The rakyat who have vote.
The rakyat who have entrusted the country to your hand.
The rakyat who wanted to be heard now…

*I’m utterly pissed at a certain minister who called the non-malays as immigrant. Do you think with your ass or you don’t have a brain at all (suspected half the members from this party are the same species, bodohsapiens). We equally (if not more) have contributed to the economy of the country as well. What gives you more right than the non-malays? Talking about origins, if you believe your bible so much, we all come from the same ancestor. Apart from not having a brain… what makes you so special!?

Petrol... Checked

The Implication of Petrol price increase

Most of the people I know are caught off guard by the recent increase in petrol price. Many of us feel the pinch (more like a slap on the face) when we need to fill up our gas tank. It used to cost RM65 for a full tank of petrol but now I need to top RM30 more. My car’s fuel consumption it’s not too bad, just around 22cents per kilometer.

I still remember the day before it happened. It’s just like any other Wednesday, I knocked off work early to catch a movie with my mom after dinner. The traffic was bad when I hit Jalan Tun Razak, I thought it’s just the usual traffic congestion but boy… I was wrong. I got stuck for an hour at Jalan Tun Razak, another hour at Jalan Kinabalu heading to Jalan Istana and one more hour to reach home. I was frustrated, bummed and pissed. I have one word to all the people who had caused the unnecessary jam by rushing to the petrol station for a last minute fill up, FUCDIOT! (f#@king idiot). You’ve wasted 1-2 hours queuing up for petrol which is going to save you a one time only… what… RM50?! But did you calculate the time and fuel wasted while waiting, and also the traffic congestion that you caused? Silly people…

Inhale… exhale… feel much better now… please pardon my potty mouth :P

Normally, I can go around 380km with one full tank but by applying a few changes to my driving habit, I’ve managed to increase it to around 450km. That’s 70km extra per full tank and 280km extra per month. Isn’t it wonderful :)

Driving tips:

  1. Only switch on the air-cond when it’s necessary. I usually drive to work and back without switching on the air-cond. It’s still cold in the morning, therefore I can make do without it and the weather in the evening it’s not too warm either, the most I’ll just sweat a little which I don’t mind at all because I’ll be taking a shower once I reach home.
  2. Keep to the speed limit. Speed devil please be kind to the accelerator. It’s proven that you’ll save 20-30% fuel traveling on 80kmph on a highway rather than 110kmph. So please adhere to the speed limit, drive smart and safe!
  3. Check you tyre pressures regularly. I used to check my tyre pressures once every month or whenever I feel something is not right. But now I do them fortnightly. An under inflated tyre can increase your fuel consumption.
  4. Drive smoothly. Minimize aggressive accelerating and braking which will save up to 40% of fuel!.
  5. Don’t need to warm up the engine in the morning. I used to do that every morning, revving my engine until the temperature needle goes up. It’s a waste of fuel and time. Just start the engine, make sure everything is working and drive straight off. There’s no winter in Malaysia, so warming up is unnecessary.

On an unrelated note, this is a new commercial directed by Yasmin Ahmad (i'm a big fan!) for Singapore Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports. Love the bra joke... quirky and heartwarming.

Earth Hour

Another project brought to you by WWF.

Sir David Frederick Attenborough, the respected broadcaster and naturalist, once doubted that human is the predominant caused of environment change, but now being convinced by the irrefutable evidences, has actively participated in campaigns that create awareness on this issue on a global scale.

Created to take a stand against the greatest threat our planet has ever faced, Earth Hour uses the simple action of turning off the lights for one hour to deliver a powerful message about the need for action on global warming.

This simple act has captured the hearts and minds of people all over the world. As a result, at 8pm March 29, 2008 millions of people in some of the world’s major capital cities, including Copenhagen, Toronto, Chicago, Melbourne, Brisbane and Tel Aviv will unite and switch off for Earth Hour.

Here is a list of things we can do that make a difference to our environment.

Inflate Your Tires

Keep the tires on your car adequately inflated. Check them monthly

Use compact fluorescent light

Replace 3 frequently used light bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs

Take Shorter Showers

Showers account for 2/3 of all water heating costs.

Install a Low-Flow Showerhead

Using less water in the shower means less energy to heat the water.

Buy Products Locally

Buy locally and reduce the amount of energy required to drive your products to your store.

Buy Minimally Packaged Goods

Less packaging could reduce your garbage by about 10%.

Buy a Fuel Efficient Car

Getting a few extra miles per gallon makes a big difference.

Carpool When You Can

Own a big vehicle? Carpooling with friends and co-workers saves fuel.

Don't Idle in Your Car

Idling wastes money and gas, and generates pollution. Except when in traffic, turn your engine off if you must wait for more than 30 seconds.

Reduce Garbage

Buy products with less packaging and recycle paper, plastic and glass.

Plant a Tree

It takes in carbon dioxide and produces oxygen..

Replace Old Appliances

Inefficient appliances waste energy.

Use a Push Mower

Use your muscles instead of fossil fuels and get some exercise.

Air Dry Your Clothes

Line-dry your clothes instead of using the dryer.

Bring Cloth Bags to the Market

Using your own cloth bag instead of plastic or paper bags reduces waste and requires no additional energy.

Turn off Your Computer

Shut off your computer when not in use. Conserve energy by using your computer's "sleep mode" instead of a screensaver.

Ditch the Plastic

2.5 million individual plastic water bottles are thrown away every hour in the US. Start using a reusable water bottle and just say no to plastic!

The PetPets

The weekend unofficially starts on Friday for me. Usually, I’m pretty much in the weekend mood by lunch time. Rest of the day will be dedicated to tying up loose ends before it accumulates into an uncontrollable clusterfcuk.

It has been a busy week. Report, report and more reports. W, the manager, is flying to Houston for 2 weeks. Had him to sign all the important documents like leave application :P, proposals and reports before noon time.

Done.

*phew*

Relax.

What should I do now? How about some music?

The Pipettes… who?

Yup, The Pipettes (like the laboratory instrument, but it sounds like petpet :P) are an indie girl group hails from UK. I like a few of their songs like ‘Pull Shapes’, ‘Your kisses are wasted on me’ and ‘ABC’. Very very infectious Petpet. It makes me wanna put on my dancing shoes and dance ala 60s. Groovy baby! Let’s dance!

Pull Shapes

Your kisses are wasted on me

Happy Birthday to you

That’s the song I learned from dining at El Cerdo yesterday. El Cerdo is pork in Spanish and being true to their name, the restaurant serves a large variety of pork delicacies like suckling piglet, pork chop, ham, goulash and plenty more.

CJ & I visited the famous pork restaurant to fill our tummies with porkielicious food after catching Vantage Point at TGV yesterday. We arrived to a full house but we’re very fortunate because the waitress managed to find us a table at the non-smoking section of the restaurant. We’re quickly seated by the attentive waitress and I must say I’m very impressed by their service. The restaurant is decorated with quirky pig memorabilia and posters. How Cute!

While we were browsing through the menu, a loud din startled us. We turned around and saw a patron throwing plates on to the floor. Flabbergasted, I signaled a waitress over and asked her what’s going on. She then explained to me in her limited English that according to an old Spanish tradition, diners are supposed to carve up the roast piglet using a plate before breaking the used plate into a bucket ‘for luck and prosperity’. Since there’re only 2 of us, we decided to try it out the next time with a bigger group.

They have an extensive menu of French/Italian food and wine! I ordered the Grilled Pork Chop Tenderloin con Queso Cabrales (Grilled & Gratinated with Ham & Spanish Blue Cheese on Homemade Garlic Pasta) and CJ opted for the Marinated Pork Shoulder Steak (Marinated for 48 hours with the Finest Paprika, Herbs, Onions, Garlic and Mild Dijon Mustard).

My pasta was cooked to ‘el dente’ and the pork & ham were simply porkielicious. CJ kept raving about his pork steak and the potatoes. After we finished our main course, a waiter brought us two complimentary shots of EL CERDO SPECIAL 22 %( A delectable Digestive consists of `Spirit, Wine and Juices). Suffice to say that we had a very satisfying meal and we’ll definitely come back again.

Oh and about the song. A guy next to our table was celebrating his birthday. The waitresses sang him a birthday song after presenting to him a cute mini pig chocolate cake :)
