2006 Revisited

2006 is a year of many first-time for me:

1. A career switch, from offshore to onshore
2. Celebrating CNY after 2 years of hiatus
3. Adopted Potato
4. Visited Sky Bridge with my Aussie mates
5. Kickboxing, the best decision i've made this year
6. Rock climbing, a very good work out for the upper body
7. Accident, my poor baby. Scared for life like the owner
8. 1st time celebrated my 25th year on planet Earth at a club
9. Visited Bangkok. Shopping Heaven!
10. An impromptu blogger meet. Met a handful of wonderful people
11. Have a place of my own ^_^
12. Rave Party, 5 hours of dance mania :P

All in all, it was a good year and i'm looking forward to an eventful and challenging year ahead. Would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your support and your wonderful companionship. All the best and have a great year ahead! Happy New Year!

Melancholic Delirium

Apollo refuses to ride his chariot today
Blue sky fades to myriad shades of gray
Pillars of confusion muddled my way
Clarity disseminates, arises disarray

The goddess, Nyx, gently weaves the sky
With her tears to illuminate the decadent night
Hatred, and wickedness, these we despised
A wise man’s irony is another fool’s delight

Feeling a little melancholic today. Must be the lack of sleep for the past couple of days. Every time i close my eyes, my mind starts to wonder. Instead resting, it will continue its endless ponders. Sometimes is something trivial and sometimes is something crucial. Nothing is resolved after the restless sleep. Wake up feeling distraught and carelessly insensitive.

MamaMia

Wee... slept a solid 11 hours yesterday *bliss* To me that's the most apt C'mas present, considering my stubborn dilemma for the past few weeks. Because of that, my jolliness is all time high today. My mama thought i siao liao (lost my mind). Why? Because i was all smiling & grinning when we walked around 1U this afternoon ^_^

...and youknowhat still grinning now :P (Fan Shue: die la liddat, my boss siao siao liao)

Mama & I went to watch a horror show, Cadaver at GSC. Horror movie is mama's fave. The queues were ridiculously long, i know i know Christmas ma. But clever me didn't use the conventional way ^_^ Instead i walked to the Golden Club counter and asked the lady, who was busy flirting with a Mamat Rempit, whether i could buy the tickets from her.

O_O* Oi JL you cheater!!

Relax first la, all my fellow babas & nyonyas, before you guys decide to nail me to a plank and stone me to death, hear me out first okie.

You see, my mama is qualified as sr citizen now, and at GSC, sr citizen can purchase ticket from the Gold Club counter mia :) Now don't say i didn't tell you all that ya. Next time remember to bring your mama, papa, uncle, aunt, ah gong or ah ma to the movie. And please... PLEASE don't do it for the benefit I've mentioned above (that's a bonus) but do it to spend some quality time with them and let them know you still sayangzz (care) them Okie ^_^

Back to the movie. This one is 'cheap-scare' horror movie. The first 10 minutes of the show already scared the bejesus out of me. Very sorry to the ane sitting beside me cause he was frightened as well, not because of the scary scenes but of me :P It has all the normal recipes for a horror movie, sudden dins, creaky old house, gloomy atmospheres (no budget for lighting kot), cadaver (cool word hoh, how come lokter always get to use cool cool word mia), phantom that's having a bad hair day, and also the i'm-so-afraid-i'm-going-to-pengsan-anytime actress. Having said that, the movie is not too bad. It can be considered as a good B-grade horror movie. So anyone of you who wants some cheap-scare go watch it la.

p.s. Not putting the picture cause the poster is really scary, still wanna see? ok loh click here

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On the way back from 1U:

JL: Waliao, look at that stupid driver. Didn't put signal straight potong (jump queue) in front of that Honda. It's so close, any closer he would have langgar (knock) the Honda.

Mama: Yan la (be patient) , you know la KL drivers are all liddat one. You must always be careful when you drive tau

JL: oh... okie

*a red kancil suddenly appeared from no where and wanted to over take us*

Mama: AH Boy!

JL: Huh?! What?

Mama: Quick chai yao (accelerate) don't let him over take you. What are you waiting?! why so slow wan! Faster la. That guy mol tuk shue (uneducated) one, how could he simply cut in liddat.

JL: O_o* eerm... err... okie

My mama mia advice power hoh ^_^

Mission Accomplished

Mama *checked*, buddies *checked*, colleagues *checked* & acquaintances *checked*

*sigh of relieve* Mission accomplished ^__^

__________________________________________________________
A certain Layang-layang asked me the other day whether I got myself anything for Christmas. I answered no la because I was still pik chik searching high & low for my friends’ gifts. Now that I’ve completed my task, and I think I did it well :) For this reason, I rewarded myself with a lil jolly this afternoon :P taadah…

*Jolly good... ^_^ 20% discount wei... dun play play

I’ve always wanted one ever since I first laid my eyes on it (the book la, apa lu pikir). You might have caught me flipping through the cooking bible like a fervent chef and gasping at the delectable gastronomical delight page after page in the Not-So-Lurus mall’s bookstore during the weekend. Now that I have one, I could gasp and drool to my heart’s contempt any day, anytime at home :D

‘The way to a human’s heart is through the stomach’ ^_^

P.S. some contractors gave me prezzies this afternoon. Double Jolly good!

Contemplative Commuting

A train full of strangers, commuting to & fro everyday.
Idiosyncratic disparity in manner, & diverse in every way.
But instead of distinction, I perceived a silhouette of commonality.
That is to arrive at one’s destination and perform one’s responsibility.

*doodling in the train

Same as life per se is an arduous journey of countless days.
Meeting & greeting diverse array of people along the way.
Some are benevolent & helpful, some are malevolent & atrocious.
Just remember to cherish the good, forgive, & forget the iniquitous.

‘It’s easier said than done’ I heard you say.
Never’ve I refuted the fact it’s a difficult way.
But it never stops me from appealing to the better nature of people.
In good faith, I hope all goodness of humanity will be rekindled.

*happy paws

P.S. O_o this post was written in a semi conscious state of mind (due to lack of sleep). To claim it as poetry is a mockery of the art. I think Shakespeare will turn in his grave if he read this ^_*

Sagaciously Nonsensical Post

BBW: To the left to the left, To the right to the right, To the left to the left

JL: oi enuf la… you thought you are Beyonce meh

BBW: *grin*

JL: O_o Apa ni???

Yesterday BBWolf(my kaki in crime) & moi went to the Not-So-Lurus mall (because it’s The Curve ma) & Ikano Power Center (wonder what so powerful bout the place) for a haircut & some C’mas shopping. The malls were swamped with people and the streets with cars. What’s happening neh, IKEA giving out free furniture kah?

While Mr. Wolf was getting his mane treated at the express cut kiosk, I strolled happily towards IKEA to get the scumptious Karipap & yummilicious vanilla ice-cream ^_^ Mana tau my joy was a short-lived one -_-* it vaporized instantaneously at the sight of the appalling endless queues that’d greeted me. All walky & no jolly makes JL a dull boy. Like a defeated soldier, I slowly trudged back to the kiosk, with no jollies.

We did lots of wandering and wondering, from furniture to books. However, no acquisition was made Sigh… another fruitless expedition. C’mas is just around the corner and I’ve just covered 1/3 of my shopping list -_-‘ dim yong hol leh

Tick tock tick tock

C’mas is clocking

And I’m ticking

Today is indeed a very good day, so many pleasant surprises. This morning I was ‘muak’ed by an Angel, this afternoon one of my favorite bloggers, Dr. Paul, visited my humble abode and just now I received a long distance phone call from my Taiwanese friend. Fantastically Ecstatic ^_^

*tis the season to be jolly, fa la la la la la la la la…

By the time Encik Ang Moh reached the 5th slide, my mind oledi merantau satu dunia. A few of my colleagues were lost in their own reverie as well but every now and then they will give an appreciative nod or an acknowledging grunt, macamlah they listen :P The meeting was excruciating long but instead of wasting my time dreaming, I tried to be prolific… and here’s the end product:

Evening

Received a comment from Angelesterix, hmmm tiang oh. After reading it, so shocked can pengsan liddat. Angelesterix had invited me to join them for dinner at Kelana Jaya. Immediately, I shifted to 5th gear and tried to clear as much paper work as possible so that I could attend the dinner. Extremely kan cheong, more like ecstatic because it’s my very first bloggers meet ^_^ cehwah like blind date liddat.

Getting to the place was proven to be an immense challenge because the non-cooperative traffics were just terribly horrible. To make matter worst, it was raining cats & dogs. It was so jialat, any more jialat it would be raining elephants & cows :P

The foods were nice, but the place wasn’t. There’s a group of drunken japs conversing at deafening volume sited next to our table and the waiters there seemed to be accident prone because I’d witnessed 2 mishaps in less than an hour. What's more, the place was slightly warm for my liking. But all that didn’t matter because I got to know a bunch of wonderful people that night: Kak Nyonya(finally…yippee), Angel NO esterix, May, _Butt, Sengkor, Chen, Ah Nel, and AnonymousWill .

It’s my pleasure to meet all of you. Hope there are more to come in the future ^_^ Cheers.

P.S. left out one person Winn, sorry ya cause tak dapat berchit chat with you. Next time Okie

Insomnia

Haven't been sleeping properly since last Saturday. My sleep is not the usual tido cam kayu balak anymore. My mind will always be in alert while I'm sleeping and I'll wake up to even the faintest noise in my room. Every morning, I'll bangun with these horrible puffy eyes like an insomniac goldfish and feeling really crappy. Even DaBoss noticed during class yesterday. Jialat loh...

*ain't I pretti....

'hey J, you look like shit! Went out partying yesterday?'

'siao ah…it would be nice if I was. You thought I'm you meh… every night at Poppy or Passion. You might as well just move in there' : P

'I would if they let me' ; )

'anyway… I really look that bad ah?'

'yeah man… let me put it this way. You don't need to dress up for Halloween and people can't tell difference hahahaha'

'Sial!' >_<

I tried all the suggested remedies I could find online. A glass of susu panas sebelum tido, do some physically & mentally exhausting exercises, meditasi, aromatherapy and I even bought 2 new pillows. Hitherto, none of them effectively alleviates my dilemma. Sigh…

Maybe I need to see a shrink :P

Have been following the news on Ipswich murder for the past few days. All I can say is that the killer is one sick bastard! (please pardon my language) What further mortified me was the choice of words the police chief used in his earlier statement re the case. Here is what he said:

"My appeal is simple: give yourself up," he said. "Make contact with Suffolk police. You have a significant problem. Give me a call and we can deal with this."

He might as well said: We have prepared red carpet & a big parade to welcome your arrival. Feel free to walk in anytime *duh*

Usual Suspect 1: A tribute to Kak Nyonya

Did it ever occur to you that the stranger standing next to you in the LRT or sitting at the next table could be the anonymous blogger, whose blog you read religiously everyday?

Yesterday, while I was walking around Ikea doing my Christmas shopping, I couldn’t help noticing a few happy shoppers portrayed some comparable traits to several of my favorite elusive bloggers.

*N1: wah lu eh Kebaya sui leh, N2: kamsiah... buy at Komtar Penang, ouu SALE mah

One of them is none other than Kak Nynonya of NyonyaPenang fame. ‘This woman is a riot’ is what another blogger, Daniel the Smoker, thinks of her and I couldn’t agree more. She is humorous, intelligent, amiable, and very down to earth as well. Her entries quite often threw me into an abrupt guffaw and gained me some notoriety at the office as the hyena sesat. Her style of writing is an eccentric fusion of English with Chinese dialects which was proven to be quite a killer combo. I’ve always envisage her as a petite little lady with short crop wavy hair, astutely friendly face (with maybe a subtle perpetual smile) oh... and not forgetting a big warm heart. I saw someone like that at the curtain section in Ikea yesterday; she was shopping with her son whom I guess is around the age of 20+. When our eyes met, I smiled and she did the same before I nonchalantly steered off to get some pillows. I owed KaK Nyonya a big Kam Siah for her encouragements had prompted me to start my very own blog. Salute Kak!

On an unrelated note, Happy feet doesn't look too happy in the future.

Apa Kata Survey?

*KLites overworked & underpaid?

Apparently, KL is the second city with the highest working hours per year.

Patutlah KL drivers so crappy & ganas...

But how come so little nia we have achieved as a city, even though we spent more hours laboring at work? Something is not right here kan?

Sundae Sunday

Wore a T-shirt that has the word shit (in mandarin) written on it to 1U today. And guess what… it gained me some diminutive attentions from people who walked past me, especially those who can read it. Shit helps! Should have worn it more often…

*S-A-I, SAI

Found a wonderful gem at MPH today and it is a Christmas album from Malaysia very own Double Take titled ‘1 Voice, 6 strings, 12 days of Christmas’. Mia’s raspy & soulful voice plus Roger’s remarkable guitar skilled gave some of the classic Christmas carols a whole new different feel and dimension. It’s simply remarkable and it’s now one of my fav albums. Dengan bangganya boleh aku katakan MALAYSIA BOLEH!

*Arang... bukan itu batu lah

According to the Korean folklore, Arang was the daughter of a magistrate who died a horrible death. Her restless spirit was assuaged after a man by the name of Yi Sang-Sa captured her killer and executed him. The ‘Arang’ that my mom & I'd watched today has the similar story but with a twist. It’s actually a love story instead of a horror movie. I quite like the movie even though I knew a handful of people will beg to differ. What I've learned from the movie is love can motivate a person to do great things. So open up and be motivated today!

Sawadee Khrap Bangkok

I now fully comprehend why my friend said Thailand is a land of beautiful people. Simply throw a stone and you're bound to hit a pretty girl or good looking guy, 7/10 tries.

The people in general are very warm & polite. Traditions are scrupulously integrated into their daily life routines, besides that their cultures & values are well preserved too. Never have I witnessed such harmonious co-mingling of customary practices in a ever changing modern society (it is either because i don't travel much or i'm just an easily impressed sua kuu ^_^)

I would say my most memorable moments of the trip were my excursions to Suanlum Night Bazaar & Chatuchak Weekend Market.

*La Roue De Paris... so nice

The majestic La Roue De Paris stood proudly at the entrance of the Suanlum Night Bazaar, illuminating the night sky with revolving effervescent light and granting every visitor an unforgettable welcome. It's the biggest Ferris wheel I've ever seen. I was so tempted to give it a try but riding it alone tak syioklah. Hence I moved on to something I like doing the most, window shopping. So many things too see, so little time. Pandang atas, bawah, kiri & kanan *gasp…*. The night bazaar offers a wide assortment of jollies from fashion apparels, jewelries, intricate décor items, to extensive choices of delicate cuisines. The whole place was bustling with activities & literally inundated with people. Unfortunately, the jollies that gripped my attraction affectionately were just too big & heavy for my petite frame to haul back to KL. Note to self: bring slaves friends to shop next time

*welcome! welcome!

Chatuchak Market = Shopping Paradise. Just when I thought the night bazaar was super cun but Chatuchak is simply supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! and not forgetting colossally impressive as well. I'd inadvertently dropped my jaw every time I discovered some very lovely & affordable treasures in this vast market, for eg.

1. Gray's Anatomy (Hard Cover, 2nd hand) – RM35 wow!

2. Harry Porter series 4 books (Hard Cover, 2nd hand) – RM45 double wow!

3. Nice V-Neck T-Shirt (New of course!) – RM15 for 2 tripple wow!

4. Puma snickers (Brand New) – RM85 *fainted*

*oi... apa conteng conteng ni...lu punya bapak punyakah

If I need to break a few bones to bring all these goodies back, let it be, because it's definitely worth it! My uttermost regret was not spending enough time to explore this wonderful market. I’ve promised myself that I shall come here again when my bank account have recovered from the catastrophic event I'd put it through ^_^ until then ‘Astalavista Baby, I’ll Be Back’

A Letter

Hi JL,

How are you doing? It’s has been quite some time, more like a life time, since our last conversation. I could still recall that night we chatted the night away until the break of dawn, curled up contentedly in our comforter and enjoying each other warmness and company. How I long for that moment to last forever, losing ourselves in each other’s dreams and despairs, strength and exhaustion, happiness and sadness.

*my poison

Every time I try to comprehend the person I have become, it frightens me. Did I foresee myself end up like this? No, would be a lie I feed myself to make it less difficult to acknowledge. Little by little, my ideal self is slowly fading away like the autumn leaves. All my emotion has consolidated together and become the epitome of wintry winter.

Do you still remember the tale I told you about finding summer? Have you found yours? It’s so beautiful isn’t it, the searing warmth melting away the cold emotion façade and the birth of inexplicable bliss like blooming flowers in spring. I’ll give everything to experience it again, the hidden plateau of joy; it offered me a momentary delight by just reminiscing it.

I hope you could still recognize me after all these years. Every fine line etched on my face embodies all the significant events I’ve experienced. Every strands of white hair subtly showed my mellowness and hopefully wisdom, which one day perhaps I could share with those who crosses my path. Please don’t forget to remember me, fondly.

I wish you enough, joy, peace and above all else love to keep you warm, safe and loved until we meet again.

Yours Sincerely,
JL
